Questions & Answers

Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin, and restores weakened or separated muscles, creating an abdominal profile that is tighter, smoother and firmer.

Abdominoplasty is a safe and highly effective procedure that can achieve immediate changes with very short recovery period and improve your wellbeing.

There are many types of Tummy Tuck, yet the most popular treatments are Full and Mini Tummy Tuck.

The procedure for a complete, or full abdominoplasty typically starts with an incision made from hipbone to hipbone just above the pubic area. Then, another incision is made to free the navel from the surrounding skin. The skin is detached from the abdominal wall to reveal the muscle fascia, which is tightened with sutures and muscles edges are approximated. After that, the surgeon removes the excess skin and fat. The belly button stalk is then brought out through a new hole and sutured into place.

Liposuction is often performed to refine and improve the abdominal sides. A complete abdominoplasty can take 3-5 hours.

A partial, or mini, abdominoplasty involves smaller incisions and focuses on the treatment of specific areas. With mini tummy tuck, the abdominal wall below the umbilicus (tummy button) is renewed and the removal of surplus skin. Unlike full abdominoplasty, the umbilicus remains unscarred.

The skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached in a more limited fashion from the muscle fascia. The skin is stretched down, and excess skin is then removed. The belly button stalk may be divided from the muscle below and the belly button moved lower on the abdominal wall. A portion of the abdominal muscle fascia wall is then tightened, and liposuction is often used to offer the contour definition.

A partial abdominoplasty, or mini-tuck, normally takes 1-2 hours.

Abdominoplasty is very common among both men and women that desire to have a more toned and slimmer abdominal area. There are multiple reasons why excess fat, poor elasticity of the skin or weakened connective tissue appears in your abdomen. Some of them are:

  • Aging
  • Heredity
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Pregnancy
  • Prior Abdominal surgery
  • Natural body type

Usually, women who have had several pregnancies are looking for tightening their abdominal muscles and reducing excess fat skin. Men or women who were obese and still have excess fat deposits or loose skin around the belly find tummy tuck as the best option to improve their physical appearance. Stretch marks can sometimes be cut away or tightened to become less obvious.

Tummy tuck is a safe and comforting solution, achieving the desired results of thousands of individuals each year.

The abdominoplasty procedure is suitable for every man and woman that choses to improve the appearance and lose excess skin. In Harley Elite Group, our goal is to make you feel good and confident in your body. We will provide you personalized solutions if the following apply to you:

  • You are bothered by the appearance of your abdomen.
  • You have and will maintain a stable weight.
  • You have realistic expectations about the surgery results.
  • You are looking for long lasting results.

Remember that tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. The positive outcomes of the surgery will be seriously affected by significant shifts in your weight. For this reason, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies are advised to postpone a tummy tuck.

The recovery period for abdominoplasty is relatively short. You will be able to return to work after 3 weeks, but for more active and physically demanding occupations, you will need to extend your downtime.

You will be asked to wear a supportive abdominal garment (abdominal binder) for about 6 weeks after your tummy tuck.

You are advised to avoid strenuous activity for at least six weeks after the operation. After 7 days, you have to visit our clinic to remove stitches and change dressing. Your plastic surgeon will give you specific instructions about the recovery process including restrictions on various activities. Be prepared to follow these recommendations to be able to fully enjoy the results without any serious complications.

The cost of such surgery is not standard, but it depends on various factors. It is different in every individual as it related to the type of procedure performed and the size of the area. For example, the starting price for Mini-Tummy tuck under general anesthetics is £5,800.

Every cosmetic surgery is different which is why we do not publish specific surgical fees but offer a personalized consultation to every client. Our highly skilled surgeons and specialists for every service are here to provide you with customized treatments to cover all your needs.
