Fat transfer for rejuvenating and volumising the face is a minor surgical procedure whereby the patient’s own fat is used to provide a firmer, fuller and younger-looking skin in the areas of the face and neck.

WHAT IS AN ENRICHED MICROFAT AND NANOFAT TRANSFER TO REJUVENATE AND VOLUMISE THE FACE AND NECK ?

Fat transfer for rejuvenating and volumising the face is a minor surgical procedure whereby the patient’s own fat is used to provide a firmer, fuller and younger-looking skin in the areas of the face and neck. The fat can be harvested safely from various areas in the body using a cannula and it is then processed and injected to areas in the face and neck to lift wrinkles and tighten the skin.

There are various fat-harvesting cannulas and fat-processing systems for collecting and purifying the fat prior to injecting it to the face and the neck. However, the majority of the available cannulas cause tissue trauma and the collected fat cells become traumatised. This in turn, causes them to become more quickly absorbed in the area where they are injected, leading to a short-lasting rejuvenation and an early volume loss. In addition, the large-sized fat particle obtained contains very low concentrations of adipocyte stem cells (ACS) and thus there is not adequate tissue regenerating capacity to rejuvenate the tissues. More so, the large-sized fat particles can leave skin dimples, if they are injected close to the skin, creating asymmetries in the face.

All the above obstacles to long-lasting, rejuvenating tissues can be solved by a new, innovating and extremely popular fat harvesting, processing system, known as ‘’LipoCube” provided by Plastic Surgeon Mr. Michail Vourvachis.

WHAT IS MICROFAT AND NANOFAT GRAFTING FOR FACE AND NECK LIFT?

Microfat and enriched nanofat graft transfer (also known as autologous fat transfer or lipoinjection), to the face and the neck is a minimally invasive, short-lasting procedure with rapid recovery, and can be done under local anaesthesia. Following completion of the procedure, the patient can return to the normal daily life activities. But firstly, we need to clearly explain what the terms microfat and nanofat grafts mean….

Microfat is defined a small-diameter fat particle and is used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, grooves and the lack of volume and sagginess of the skin of the face and neck, in response to the aging process.

Similarly, nanofat, is referred to as the smallest diameter fat particle. The main advantage of the nanofat is that it contains cells that have the ability to differentiate in any type of body cell. Stem cells – as they are called- play a very important role in the process of rejuvenation, as they can differentiate into cells called fibroblasts which in turn produce collagen thus making the skin firmer and more youthful in appearance.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?

The procedure can be divided into two stages:

1. In the first stage, fat cells will be obtained from one or more parts of the body and are then purified and injected into the face and the neck. The doctor will identify an area in your body where the fat will be obtained from. This area is usually the flanks, but fat can also be obtained from other areas such as the abdomen, and the outer and inner thighs. You will be given enough local anaesthesia to numb the area where the fat will be harvested from. Then, a small-diameter cannula called microcannula connected to a special vacuum syringe will be gently introduced under the skin to obtain the fat.  During this process, you should not feel any pain, the local anaesthetic will have made you numb. After the fat is harvested, it will contain a mixture of fat cells, blood, water, and local anaesthetic. Therefore, this fat will not be pure. This mixture of fat, blood, water and local anaesthetic will then become filtered into a special filtering and processing device whereby all the blood, water and local anaesthetic are being washed out, so that pure fat remains. This fat is then further processed by passing it through special filters whereby it becomes a smaller-sized fat particle known as microfat and nanofat graft

2. The second stage involves collecting the microfat and nanofat grafts into multiple syringes and are then injected to the face and neck to improve the skin texture and to volumise the face.

WHY HAVE MICROFAT AND NANOFAT GRAFTING PROCEDURE FOR REJUVENATION AND VOLUMISATION OF THE FACE?

The microfat and nanofat grafting procedure is a breakthrough treatment which uses the patient’s own fat to achieve a glowing, younger-looking face and neck. It can be used to volumise the cheeks, plump the lips, reshape the nose, fill the area under the eye and define the jawline. It can also be used to augment the breasts.

The main advantage of this procedure is that it uses the patient’s own fatty tissue therefore, it does not cause any allergic reaction and inflammation which can sometimes be observed with the fillers. The fillers have the ability to fill tissue spaces and improve wrinkles and grooves around the eyes, the nasolabial fold as well as the jawline however, they do not have the ability to release regenerative cells to rejuvenate the face. The nanofat graft on the contrary, contains cells, which differentiate into fibroblasts to produce collagen and produce a firmer, younger-looking skin. More so, the microfat graft can replace the lack of fat in the face and the neck which is the natural result of the aging process and thus, increasing the volume by providing a younger-looking appearance.

RECOVERY PERIOD

It is expected that you are going to be slightly swollen and bruised at both the fat-harvesting and fat-injecting areas. You will be given detailed instructions that will speed up your recovery. In most of the times, you will experience mild swelling and bruise that will last for a few days. You can take some painkillers if you feel it is necessary.

You will be able to go back to work the day after the procedure, but you should avoid any strenuous physical activity for up to 2 weeks.

AM I SUITABLE FOR MICROFAT AND NANOFAT GRAFTING FACELIFT TREATMENT?

Any patient (male and female) who has adequate fatty tissue is a candidate for a microfat and nanofat transfer to the face and the neck. The doctor will do a consultation with you and address the areas on the face and the neck that require fat grafting treatment. The doctor will inform you if you have enough fatty tissue in your body and that you are suitable for fat grafting. The fat that is harvested from the body is small in volume, that is about 40-80ml depending on the case therefore, nearly all the patients are suitable candidates for this procedure.

In Harley Elite Group, we offer all our patients FREE consultation with our expert doctors before any treatment. We are here to discuss with you all your concerns as well as provide you with the most suitable procedure according to your needs, your desired results and your skin type.

HOW LONG DOES A MICRO AND NANOFAT TRANSFER LAST FOR?

The long-lasting result depends on the volume of the fat injected and the ability of the newly injected fat cells to accommodate themselves next to the already existing fat cells. It will take up to six months before the final results of fat transfer will become fully apparent.

Some of the injected micro and nanofat will become absorbed within time and the degree and the speed of absorption of these fat cells varies between individuals. That is why the doctor might have to slightly ‘overfill’ the areas in order to compensate for the fat loss. The volumising and rejuvenating effect of micro and nanofat can last for many years. The procedure can be repeated if necessary.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROFAT - NANOFAT AND THE FILLERS?

The prices start from 4,500 GBP. However, cost may vary as each treatment is personalized and the amount of fat used depends on each person’s individual qualities. Thus, the price may be different from person to person.
